Dramatic grade changes dictated the framework of this landscape, creating a need to reinforce one hillside with a dry-stone retaining wall to support a custom Cape Neddick granite paved driveway entrance. Descending from the outer face of the stone wall are large granite slabs woven into the stonework that serve as a staircase to the oceanside, following along a grass path flanked by blueberries and salt-tolerant plantings. Native, coastal plantings and sod provide a gentler route to the ocean along the opposite side of the property. The landscape integrates into the rocky coastline with a blend of lawn and planting beds, softening the formidable ledge and offering a space to appreciate the horizon.
