Positioned along the Eastern coast of the Atlantic Ocean, this site has undergone a remarkable transformation, turning an aging mid-century modern home with a degraded environment into a vibrant landscape. Through meticulous planning and adherence to stringent shoreline zoning standards, our team utilized reclaimed granite, locally sourced flagstone, and a palette of native plant species to create a harmonious garden that elegantly connects the house and outdoor living spaces to the surroundings. Initially choked with invasive plant species that did little to prevent erosion, the slope was stabilized with a retaining wall and stair system, along with a dense array of multi-seasonal vegetation. The result is both a soft infrastructure and a functional habitat, protecting the homeowner’s investment with an added benefit to the local ecosystem.
